OE Connecting Rods vs Aftermarket at 450hp

I think I know the answer to this but since my motor is open I figured I would ask the question. My OE rods are currently out being balanced/etc. Had a slight scare that two of them may have overheated but it was a mix up at the shop. I researched aftermarket connecting and they offer some attractive advantages. That being said, I am not modifying anything other than the GT oil cooler, cat/muffler bypass, and "S" tune that is already on the car. My guess is that I am making 450hp max. I figure my refurbed OE con rods are good enough for long term use at this HP/TQ level. Thoughts?

no one else is replying so - stock is fine to 500. imho
ruf turbo R also uses stock rods and they are often rated to 490 -> over 500.

Most Turbos in here are sitting in collections and rubbed occasionally with soft towels.

Awesome thanks! I posted in the 993 forum as well and got some responses there. Steve W and Todd Knight (Protomotive) both think I should replace them since the motor is open and investment isnt high. Looking at Pauter, Arrow, or Protomotive's own versions. Probably the only real internal mod I will do, other than the already present Aasco springs, since I am keeping it mostly stock.

Thanks again!

Stock will be fine for 450 HP. I’m using Carrillo rods but I’m over 450HP.

Yup, they are fine ... as long as they passed inspection and everything checks out. Using ARP rod bolts is a very good idea.

Cheers

Mike
