Question Custom gauge color

I'm a fan of the white gauges offered as an option on the 993TT, standard on the S. I know there's aftermarket options, but it looks like some of the warning lights disappear with the upgrade. Is this a 1996 dash, and it's the 97's that have the extra lights? Here is a sample of one of the 993TT's that's available...I'm assuming this is not a stock peice. Input?

At first glance the gauges look white, but if you look closer, they are actually a really light silver at least thats the way they are on my '97 with the aluminum pkg.

FP, those in your pic are probably aftermarket. SOme kits
dont have cutouts for the warning lights some do.
AutoBahns are correct.

Oldguy,

Finally.... a decent avatar for you! Who did the Photoshop editing? I must add... your car is most impressive in person. Great finish. You can quit your day job and become an auto-detailer!

The gauges have been redone aftermarket in silver. North Hollywood Speedometer and others do the conversion for around $350 (I had the gauges in my C2 done in white by NHS).

It is done by stripping the paper-like coating off of the existing gauge faces and applying a similar paper-like coating in the desired color. The warning lights glow through the coating.

I actually like the look of the aftermarket gauge treatment better than the factory approach, because there are no cutouts. The only downside to the aftermarket approach is that there is a small amount of light leakage (for lack of a better word) from one warning light to the one next to it.
