Default Removing Front and rear bumperettes (US Spec)

I´m looking for a 993TT and I found one here in Brazil that is US Spec (normally they are euro spec) and it has those (IMHO) horrible bumperetes in the front and rear bumper.

I´d like to know if I can easely remove them... any help is apreciated!

Thanks in advance, a future 993TT proud onwer!

Congrats and welcome to the board! I'm sure you'll enjoy your car immensly. And I'm very impressed that you started to think about mods to your car. hehe... Less work for us to do..

You have several options about the bumpers:
a) buy new front/rear bumper covers at http://www.carnewal.com

b) patch the front/rear bumper covers at a body shop

Both require repainting of the bumper cover. The best solution is (A), but it's also the most costly. I think both bumper covers are about 2000 euro or something like that. Then about 500-1000 to paint.

Option B is a lot cheaper. The filling portion can just be included in the painting part.

Long term, doing (a) is probably better. But a lot of people have done (b) withouth any problems. Keep in mind that the filler may expand/contract differently than the rest of the bumper material, so you may see wavyness depending on the heat. And esp in the rear if the exhaust gets hot enough.

Also, as far as useful links:

http://www.carnewal.com Great porsche parts and service

http://www.993tt.com Great 993tt specific information

http://www.993faq.com Great general 993 information

http://www.p-car.com Great suspension information and diy info

And of course, the rennlist archives are chocked full of info.

Thanks a lot Jeff, very helpful links!!!

Well, I love porsches, and specially the huge line of tequipments... As I live in Brazil, parts here on the dealer are cost prohibitive so everytime I travel to US or Europe, I go to a dealer and bring back a tequipment... I used to have a boxster, heavely loaded with tequipments along the 3 years I onwed it, but I sold it last december to get a S MY2004 but the dealer sold it to someone else (even thought I´ve had made the offer) and now I´m considering the 993TT 1997 from another car dealer, a car that was always my dream...

Regarding the bumpers, As the car is black, I should consider doing the B option or not doing it at all... To bring the bumper to Brazil is too expensive...

Thanx!!!!

You may want to contact Gert at www.carnewal.com He's based in belgium, so shipping to brazil maybe isn't that difficult as you think versus shipping to the usa.

He ships stuff all over the world amazingly quickly.
