Default Boost pressure TECHNICAL question

My TT has the iritating habbit of registering boost on the display even when statinoary at times. Now i know it's the boost pressure switch under the intercooler that's causing the irritation, I wondered if it's likely to have any other negative effects such as:
1) ECU thinks it's got boost when it clearly hasn't and maybe adjusting the fuel/timing to compensate

2) If it's registering 0.2 bar at idle, maybe it's registering 0.8 bar (max) when it's only really seeing 0.6?

Any thoughts would be appreciated before I pill the IC off!

Thanks

Alan

Alan,

I think this is a fairly common problem. I had a similar problem with my car when I first got it. As far as I know it is just an indication problem, without any side effects. I went through two boost pressure sensors to get rid of the problem. Try doing a search and you will find other associated issues if it is more than an indication issue.

Alan:

Not to worry, Sir.....its JUST the indicator.

The ECU gets manifold pressure data from the MAFS, not from that sensor or guage.
