Tires Moving on Rims
Hey fellow TT guys! After some spirited
exercising of my car I notice the rear tires
spin on the rim. There is a blemish on my
rear tire that was aligned with a blemish on
the rim. So after I got back they were 180 degrees
out. Is this normal?? If not what do you do.
I check the pressure regularly and there is 38lbs
in the rears cold.

That musta been some REALLY SPIRITED driving. Tires are not supposed to do that. Put a chalk mark on the tire aligned with the valve stem, and retest. More data!
Ps. How are you doing?

Old Guy,
I've had the same problem with my Kumho track tires on chrome rims. This has happened on 2 separate occasions on the first track day after mounting new tires. Both times, the scenario was this: After the morning sessions I noticed a severe vibration at approximately 100mph. The chalk mark on the tire (which was originally at the valve stem) was now off by 180 degrees at the rear tires and about 45 degrees on the front. I went to town to have the tires/wheels rebalanced and was told that my tire installer either used the wrong lubricating solution (not likely since I watched him both times) or the tire was slipping on the chromed wheel due to lack of friction. On both occasions, tire slippage stopped after the morning sessions and rebalancing. I don't know whether this was happening upon braking or acceleration. My next step will be to use my track tires with the hollow spoke wheels and use another tire installer to narrow down the possible causes.
What type of tires/wheels do you have?

Steve I have standard Pzeros N2's and standard TT 18" wheels.
On Sunday I went out on a closed track in malaysia and did some
heavy acceleration and got up to 140MPH. I put the car in a local
toys for tots car show on Sat and had dressed the tires and wheels
and thats how I noticed how the tires were lined up. When i got
back from malaysia on Sun afternoon in time for Sunday Nite football
I noticed the marks were 180 degrees out. I think it happens under accelleration, my self but I dont know if thats what I am feeling.
