My buddy took his 03 Cobra to the local dealer for a warranty repair. He got that phone call that none of us EVER want to get. It started with "Hi, this is Bob, the service manager at Simi Ford. Uh.... did you happen to have a Lojack on your car????" He didn't, has since replaced that Cobra (with another, identical Cobra), and is now looking into getting a Lojack.

The problem with the lojack or boomerang's or what ever, is that you have to know that your car is stolen.

If these guys went out for lunch, an hour is a lot of time to steal the car.

In addition, the police car has to be equipped with the LoJack tracking device. Not every police department is using LoJack. Back when I bought my Porsche in mid nineties, LoJack coverage in LA county is decent but in Orange county (where I live) is not that good. Coverage should probabkly better now..

Mine has it (installed by PO). This is their program/shakedown for downstream owners.

It doesnt take long to find the LoJack device on the car. they probably just towed it away.
