Seats refinished
I used a leather restorative product on my seats not realizing
they'd be dyed badly by previous owner and they turned into a sticky mess. It was touch and go if they could be saved but......
Seats out.
Ugh.
WTF?
Left one stripped, right one still in a shade of 'Wurthers Original'.
All done.
Might as well deep clean the carpets while the seats are out.
Nasty shiny steering wheel.
Much better.

As for details.....it's a bit vague.
I bought a car with no mention from the previous owner of the seats being re-dyed.
I applied Leatherique to them to really clean the car over after I bought got it home.
It reacted with a thick layer of dye that had been applied to the car and after spending hours trying to get it off I stopped and called the professionals. They were sticky as fly paper and the top layer was coming off the leather wherever it rubbed too hard.
A mobile van showed up a few days later and after trying a few things, they said they couldn't do anything and the seats would have to be stripped back to scratch.
I phoned a guy called Brian Marks at Fibernew and he said he could do it, but it wasn't going to be cheap or easy.
A week later I delivered the car up to him and he went to work and despite a time in the middle where he was starting to talk about new covers or new/old seats, it all worked out great. What he used, I have no idea.
While he had the seats out, I got him to do the carpets and also restore the steering wheel which was slick and smooth and a little off-putting to touch. It felt like a dipped rubber rather than leather.
Anyway, he knocked it all out of the park. Total cost was a little under $1100 of my American dollars. As covers were $1400+fitting+any work he'd already put in and second-hand seats were $1500+refinishing, it just seemed like the smartest thing to do at the time.
Love the seats, wish the car didn't have so many secrets.

Pedal picture from my car.
Great job on the seats. Really amazing final result.
As far as his dead pedal I think I have the same Renline set. Here is a pic.

I love the work. What was the solution to the steering wheel? I have one coming from a RL member in black even though I have a blue interior (blue wheel will be removed and then sent out for new leather). I was thinking heavy leatherique for the wheel but I want the leather uniform and the top is a little lighter than the bottom.

I got the ones with rubber inserts for grip. The main difference when fitting this set was that I fit everything with the mats in place. My last car was all too tight in the pedal box because I mounted the dead pedal too low. I'll take some pictures later.
In regards to what exactly was done to the seats or the wheel, I can't really say. The guy was great though!
