Default Think Im going to sell my silver 993c2

It seems that I may have found a TT that is as prestine as my c2.
So, as Im not collecting silver 97 993's, Im going to find a new home for my car.
Ive asked for valuation help in the past, but have not yet decided on the price. Let me know what you guys think and if you guys care.

It is prestine, and has 12.5 k miles with the following:
1997 c2 coupe
Turbo bumper installed
Artic Silver / Black
limited slip / ABD
8-way power seats driver & passenger
Alumunium Packages (both dials and shifter/handbrake)
Motor sport sound open airbox
Motor sport exhaust tips
17in cup wheels
Porsche crest wheel caps
Porsche logo floor mats
rear window defogger
AM/FM stereo - speakers were upgraded to high-end PPI speakers

If anyone knows of a good home, please let me know.
thx.

Is it a widebody or not?

If yes, I would say $38-40k. If not $35-37k. If you consider going through a dealer they will rip you a new one. The miles are low and the color is one of the best. This may seem low, but it is winter and prices have come down quite a bit on 993s.

Hope this helps.

Alex...not everyone can get the deal that you did. You can't use yours as a benchmark.....I know that I did for the 1st month of my search and realised that it was the exception, not the rule ( I am still enviuos of course). $35-37k would be a very good buy for someone and would plunge me into buyer's remorse (only had mine for 1 week...please don't do it to me). I think 40-45 is more like it.

I understand that many have mentioned that I got a deal. But recall that mine has 50k miles, which is substantially higher than this c2. I guess I am basing this on prices in the papers, which are in the mid to hi $30s and about $40k at the dealers. Even the local Porsche dealers are in that neighborhood. Don't forget that they are at full and sometimes beoynd retail prices.

I think if a seller can hold out for a longer period, it is possible to get the dollars, but if you need to move your car due to needing the cash to buy another, I would say just get it over with.

Sorry - you aren't buying a 1997 C2S with 12K miles for under $40K. If you could, I would buy a half dozen and have one for each day of the week.

35k is what they are going around SoCal for a C2, but if it is a C2S more like 40K. But, you should receive a premimum for the lows miles if somebody wants a very low mile car.

I think this is a $40-45K car. There are few 12,000 mile 993s around. Assuming it's truly pristine, and you can wait for the person who wants a very low miles/pristine car, you should get the premium. However, if you need to sell quickly to get the TT, this may be another (relative) bargain for someone.

BTW, I think it's a standard Carrera, not a Carrera S.

A mint low mileage 1998 C2S is still up to $60K in the Northeast. A 1997 C2S would be all of $50K+ here as well.

I think a mint low mileage 1997 C2 is all of $45K.

Remember - there is a HUGE difference in price for a car with high(er) miles and lesser condition.

DC, I think the regional issue might be throwing a wrench into the works of determing a fair price for your car. I live in the Seattle area and out here, P-Car prices are pretty much rock bottom. for example, a very close fried of mine just purchased a 99 996 w/ factory aero & low miles for roughly 40k.
i.e. don't listen to us west coast guys
no really, i'm sure that someone is looking for your car, but it's going to be a very particular buyer. have you thought of waiting until spring to sell? is there any seasonality in pricing in the NorthEast? it's as predictable as the rain out here.
just my 2 cents.
Kyle.

My 2 cents....

Prices on 993's are all over the board. One problem seems to be there are more and more of 993 with "stories" and/or “issues” and these cars will always be priced lower. As our cars age this will become a bigger and bigger problem. Truly pristine, well maintained with no "stories" or “issues” are becoming more and more difficult to find. Many of the used the 993s have the original suspensions (which most likely need replaced), or have CEL issues (with the accompanied valve guide wear) and/or are ready for other maintenance that can start to add up. Quality well maintained used 993’s are still holding their value to a point.

The used prices of the 996’s are really not a good comparison to 993 prices. The 996 has enjoyed (or suffered depending on how you look at it) a much steeper depreciation than the 993. The production numbers and the popularity of leases have really contributed to this. Additionally the rear main seal leak problem has many people afraid to own a 996 out of warranty.

Personally if you are not in “hurry” to sell the car and it doesn’t have any issues or stories and the preventive maintenance has been done, then price it accordingly. There are still buyers out there looking for a pristine 993 and are willing to pay for one. There are some inexpensive 993s on the market but you usually get what you paid for in these circumstances. There seem to be many cars for sale for low prices, but they are still for sale, which makes you wonder. Don’t get me wrong, some recent additions to this board seem to have found some really good deals but they seem to be the exception other than the rule.
