I got a question for you guys.
I just bought a set of HRE 540 (polished with the Porsche emblem) from a guy in Ohio, how will these wheels look on a 993TT. I got the wheels for $2500, I will be getting the wheels next week (UPS COD). He bought them used and planned to put them on his car but realized that they didn't fit, he has a 993 c2. He said that it will fit only the wide bodied 993 (C4S, C2S and TT). The wheels size is 18x8 (front) and 18x10 (rear). I called HRE and showed them the pictures of the wheels to make sure that they're real HRE and they verified it, the wheels will cost about $4500 from Wheel Enhancement. As for the offset, the guy didn't know what it was, but said that the previous owner had them on a C2S. This guy never had a 993 till now, but had numerous 911 (earlier models). He seems very knowledgeable and honest from the conversation we had over the phone.
Is this a good deal
Thanks

For $2500 that is an OK deal. I assume they are in good condition without tires.
I would first take them to make sure they are not out of balanced.
Several years ago I bought a set of Kinesis K28's for about that price but with newer tires.

I think you're getting a good deal as long as the wheels are in the condition you expect. I recently paid a bit more for my Kinesis K-58 but when I received them, two of the outer rims were stained, one a big gouge (which didn't show on pics), and one was some run-out(wobble) which was more than normal.
I ended up sending straight to Kinesis to have them checked out. While they were being taken apart, I had the centers polished and entire wheels gray-hard anodized. Final cost: more than if I had purchased new!

Thanks all for your advice.
That was my main concern also, I never bought anything from Ebay and am a little worried about the wheels. I can pick them up from the seller if I like, but it's about an 8 hour drive. The seller said he didn't care whether I pick them up from his house or if he had to ship it to me. He suggested that we use UPS COD. If I decide to pick them up, it would be great because I can check out the rims (at least cosmetically), if I have them shipped I can't. Well if he is shipping them COD, can't I open the boxes up when UPS arrives and check them out first, if the wheels are damaged or are not what he described, then I could cancel the order.
What do you guys think, he is located in Powell, Ohio and I am in Northern NJ (NYC area).

Nope, UPS won't let you inspect them. Unfortunately. My company ships and receives about 300 packages a day, I have first hand experiance. You can only open it after you give the check to the driver.

Thanks all for your input.
The gentleman in Ohio is going to ship the wheels to me this week, unfortunately I will not be able to make the trip next weekend.
Also he is a frequent visitor to this site, because when I spoke to him today, he said he saw my posy on Rennlist. Small world
