Default Suspension in action

My little street legal ride, out having some fun with NASA at Buttonwillow Raceway June 24/25 this year. The car retains air conditioning, power steering, power windows sun roof, stock door panels with HiFi speakers**, passenger air bag** and appears to benefits from:
993 RS wheel carriers,
993 GT2 style tie rods from ERP,
Full ERP rear suspension pieces (See attached)
TRG Camber plates,
Strut bar connector,
993 RS anti-toll bars
MCS 3 way suspension
H&R 700 F/900R springs
60" Crawford wing with Gurney lip, from Jae Lee at Mirage international. He also did my alignment and bump steered the car. Observant souls will notice 0 down angle on the wing...the next day, I dialed in 6 degrees of down angle, went from 245s to 255s up front, and 285s to 295s on the rear. No rubbing noted on the professionally rolled fender lips. Picked up 2 seconds a lap, sweet.
-3.5 camber front
-3.0 camber rear
Lowered to RS ride height, more of less
** Coming out soon, as well as replacing stock lower dash cap with the Rennline unit.

It has a stock cat and stock mufflers, puts out 257 HP to the rear wheels. It seldom sees the street, spend most of it's time in an enclosed trailer. It is an absolute dream to drive on the track, a little rough for the street.

255's on MY02's, do you have spacers on the fronts? What brand/model of tires are you running?

No spacers, just -3.5 degrees of negative camber and rolled fenders. No rubbing that I could see. I am running Hoosier R7 tires. I run -3.0 in the rear. Suspension was set up by Jae Lee from Mirage International in San Diego.

That's an AiM SOLO DL suctioned cupped to the windshield. I may have just sold it...up grading to MXL-2 and a SmartyCam...then I will have some video. The MXL-2 is nearly 3X more than a AiM SOLO DL, but it accepts sensors...great for oil pressure/oil temperature and warming light for same..has a programable shift array as well...

Default Buttonwillow & Tires

Track configuration was #1 CCW, 2:10.XXX was about it for me. And keep in mind it was very warm, well over 100 by noon.

To be competitive in NASA TT4, I need to knock off at least 2 seconds....the winning BMW cars with 12.0 weight to HP ratio, have gone below 2:00.XX These are the same times that quick TT2 cars run...how they do this? Who knows...they are bloody fast, and are single purpose race cars.

As far as a 255 pic, see below....

Thanks Martin... I assume that is on a 8.5" wheel?

Keep in mind that the R7 is a very unusual sized tire compared to a typical 255/35 x18
usually a 255/35 is ~10.2" across when mounted on a 9, the R7 is 10.8" across on the same wheel, on an 8.5 the section goes to ~10.6 & 10

it is also ~ .2" shorter than the typical 255/35 x18

got to admit i've contemplated trying a 255/35 on mine

I have been looking at the re71r in the 255/35, I think it is the way to go with the 285 on the rear, the 235 is just a little narrow for the front, especially in the RE71r which is a narrow tread width tire.

I am too low to get much of anything tucked in on my car. 235s rub inside fender lip (rolled), inner front top & middle of fender liner, lower rear of wheel liner. This is on 8.5" wheel. 😖

I am very low in the front, (97 mm at the measurement points) with camber of -3.2 and have never had any rubbing, even with camber around -2.5.

I have 8.5" front wheels with an ET of 45

actually you will need to knock off more than 2 sec
first you'll have to give up the 2 secs you picked up with larger tires, TT4 is limited to 275 width.
then, sadly for anyone wishing to run their 993 in TT4, the taco holder splitters and rs side skirts need to go.

the nasa forum TT4 proposed rules thread became very convoluted while the rules committee tried to punish all cars except their own.
at some points it was either funny, sad or pathetic depending on what car you owned.
while splitters and air dams are allowed, they added a rule reading no canards/winglets molded into a replaced front fascia.
the committee refused to define a molded canard/winglet, but they had to exempt M3 aero so anything the same as or better than the M3 front bumper cover is not allowed.
the end result was restricting all cars to using the original front bumper covers and then creating a new appendix for special cars(read rules committee cars) that are exempted from the rules.
so all 993's have to use original front bumper covers, no cup, rs or evo front bumper covers changes.
but any bmw, corvette or something called a mustang boss from '12-'13 are exempted and can swap up to better aero.
sad state of affairs, especially since a late model caymen or 911 can show up with fancy new front aero and compete, but older cars can't update.

TT5 is coming next year, probably be 14 or 14.5 to 1.
and rather than make crazy rules to benefit a few cars looks like they will be adding points for certain car models.
might end up a better deal being able to use taco holders and taking a few tenths.

Default Oh no....275 the largest?

I'll have to re-read the rules. I am so far off the pace, potentially 10 seconds at Buttonwillow, nobody is paying any attention to me. I am NOT taking of the "Taco Holders" or RS side skirts, or my 60" Crawford wing...so I'll keep running until I am DQ'd. I just want the track time.

As to 275s, I like them...I have a set of 275s and 245s that I am itching to try.

Back in the day Porsche did extensive testing before releasing the 993Cups, they found that the best combo was
8.5x18 ET53 245/645x18
10x18 ET60 285/645x18
