I wanted to report back that I have a squeak free car once again. Thanks to Jim Morton for the free like new rotors and the advice from all of you. The key for those who are wondering is, ignore the part in the DIY about taking out the "Spider" clips that were installed from the factory. For a quiet street experience, you need them in.

I went to the dealer and bought new pads in a Porsche box as advised and eight new spiders. Total with tax $117. Once installed on Jims donor rotors, the brakes are silent. The clips are very easy to install.

Mr. Clifton,

I'm glad you got it all ironed out and you have a happy Porsche once again.

If I may again chime in, the spiders certainly don't hurt, they just slow the brake pad replacement for those swapping pads for the track...obviously not a consideration for many. FWIW, I have not used those springy-spider thingies and have not experienced squeal with the OE Textars/OE Rotors for a long time now (over 25K miles, maybe?). Perhaps I'm lucky, but it works for me....just thought I'd make that clear

Default EVO brake upgrade

I have taken the plunge to 355mm EVO brakes F and R. More $$$, swept area and less weight. I should have things tidied up this weekend. I will report, post pictures when done.
Jim:

The EVO brake upgrade is using the Brembo F50 caliper and 14" rotor right?

I weighed this set-up when I was upgrading the front brake of my other car and they come out as:

F50 caliper/pads: 17lb
14" rotor/aluminium hat: 10.8lb

How much does the stock Porsche caliper and rotor weigh? I would think that the stock caliper weight should be pretty close to the F50 caliper. So you weight saving will come mostly from the rotor. Could you post the weight data if you do not mind.

On my other car, an E55, the front stock 330mm two piece rotor (w/steel hat) weigh 21lb but the steel sliding caliper and pads weigh 18.6lb. I saved almost 12lb per side going to the Brembo F50 package.

Please post you impression on the brake upgrade when you are done. Thanks
