Default Radio head unit install question

Finally upgrading from the original CDR-10 to an Alpine 143BT head unit as part of 21 year "freshen up" (speakers all dry rotted). The new head slides in fine to the old metal fit bracket, but does not lock in place due to changes in mech. I was going to swap out the old bracket for the new one that came with the Alpine, but the old bracket has a green wire attached to the back. Searched the radio install threads for what this wire might be, and if I need it, but no luck. Any ideas? Pic of old below:

OLD bracket w/ Green wire connected on back

Thanks!

It's a chassis ground wire.

It is not a chassis ground wire. It is part of the alarm and is designed to trigger the alarm if the radio is slid out of the bracket. Do not ground it, else the alarm unit will think the radio is removed.

Just disconnect it and tape it up out of the way.

Many thanks folks. Will post a project thread when complete with all the lessons learned along the way.
