The best way to decide if a particular tire will fit a certain size wheel is to go to the manufacturer's website and look for the tire specs. I've not looked at BFG's site, but all the others I've seen have a tire spec section that actually lists the wheel sizes permitted and recommended for a certain size tire.

The rear wheel is a little narrow for a 275. Personally I wouldn't run the G-Force R1's. I have seen and heard of them failing and causing some problems. Go with the kumhos or toyo's and you will be better off.

I had R1-A's on my '87 911 with 8&9/17. The R1-A's (newer generation)were for cars with more weight and more suspension adaptation, like 911s and M3s. Their side walls were softer. The R1s (newer generation)were designed for front wheel drive, and had stiffer side wall construction. As a result, when people used the R1s on 911s or M3s, the loss of traction was abrupt and difficult to predict. The R1-As, only available for about 1-2 years, were great. I liked them much more than Kumhos, and were about 1-2 secs. faster at Mid-Ohio for me. I used 225/45 in the front, and 255/40 in the rear. I agree that 275 is probably too wide for a 9/17 wheel. The specific type of R1 is pretty important. I got this info from TireRack a few years ago, when these were still available. How old are yours? Let me know if there are some in the right size stored out there somewhere. If they are R1-As, I'd buy them. [/LIST]
