Just got a letter to pay a toll

What work was done to the car?
I had some major work done on my jag, and they took it home based on fuel used. They had to reset a few monitors to confirm the problem was fixed.
I trusted the mechanic, so I wasn't bothered.

At least it wasn't a speeding ticket.

EHS,
What kind of relationship do you have with your mechanic? Has he taken car home for test drive in the past? Did he ask permission first? Do you feel that if he would deceive you on this matter, so maybe something more?
Do you "trust" the mechanic/shop?
Phil

Hi all,
This was a 90k service, and work done to the top. It's a generally reputable shop based on recs made on this and other websites. Car has been there a little too long, when I've checked up on it there has always been a delay.
I don't have a reason to trust the shop, but I hadn't had a reason to "not" trust the shop before. But, when you get the picture of your car passing through a toll on a Wednesday night, it doesn't inspire additional trust.
All of the test-able items in the 90k service should have been accomplished a few weeks before the toll. The work being done around the toll time was for the sound system. Maybe they needed to test that....

Hell... my mechanic takes my car home with him and puts it in his personal Garage Space as opposed to sitting outside his shop if shop is full.

Just bring it up casually, and ask him. You'll never know until you ask.

Got the car back on Friday, and it was beautifully done and under the estimate. I hadn't had an opportunity to go into the shop before, but they had some crazy awesome vintage 911s out there. My pedestrian 993 would probably be the last one that you would take for a joyride.
Shop owner explained that the "radio guy" needed a specific part and asked to take the car to his shop over the river, "was that where the toll was?"
Odometer was within the limits of what I would have thought it should be.
So, all ended well.
Best,
EHS
