Recaro Pole Position for daily driving?
I'm considering purchasing a pair of recaro pole-positions for my 95 993 coupe (driver and passenger side).
For daily driving, are there any issues here?
Can the rear seats still be accessed (small adults sometimes need to fit back there)?
Can factory seat belts be used comfortably and safely? Any issues here?
Eliminating factory power seats for Recaros with sliders, is the weight savings significant? Meaning, can you feel the difference?
If anyone's gone this route, any regrets?
I love my factory seats and they're in great condition - just trying to figure out if this upgrade makes sense.
Sorry for so many questions and I appreciate any insights here.
TIA!

Question, are you going to get them in cloth or leather? Because the gt3 leather seats from Foreign Affair are 50 dollars cheaper and IMHO are cooler. The seatbelts should not be a problem on the new seats and the weight savings should be in the 80-100 pound range.

oleg, like kim i have had pole position as well as narrower spg's. they are very comfy for street. getting in and out for daily use is fine especially with PP b/c it' s wider and that the thigh bolsters are not very high. however accessing the back seat will be very very difficult if not impossible. maybe you get ONE race seat and leave stock passenger seat for access?

Oleg,
The GT3 seats are on sliders, so I think small children should be able to access the rear seat in spite of the fact that the seats do not bend. Honestly, I don't use my rear seats anymore because of the DAS bar.
Here's a pic with the front seat pulled all the way forward:

Anir,
Could you post how you mounted your harnesses again. I have tried searching to find the pictures you posted but I could not. You can just PM me if you like. Thanks.

The shoulder belts simply wrap around the DAS bar. The outboard guide loops were not positioned correctly, so I used a Dremel to remove them and sanded down the remaining nubs until smooth so as not to tear the harness material.
For the outboard belt attachment, I simply used the existing factory seatbelt mounting point in the outboard portion of the rear seat footwell.
For the two anti-sub belts and inboard lap belt, I used a Unibit to drill two 7/16" holes into the rearseat footwell floorboard and one hole into the transmission tunnel, respectively.
I used 4" x 4" SCCA-approved backing plates to secure the exterior attachment of the floor mounted anti-sub belts. These backing plates were too big for the transmission tunnel, so I used the large, thick round washers shown above for both the inside and outside.
That's Wurth anti-rust sealer that you see around the backing plates. Hope this helps.

I have the PP's and feel they're fine for around town but I highly recommend you install the lumbar pad. The one pictured (part #10) is for the Speedster seats (very similar) and available through your local Porsche parts department. I got mine from Sunset in Beaverton, OR, for around $50/pair. They took about three weeks since they were special ordered but made a huge difference on those long hauls to the track.
Part #24 is the bracket Kim mentioned which allows use of the Factory belts.
