Post $500 Finders Fee Offered

Hello everyone:

Since January of last year, I have diligently been searching for my first Porsche...and I'm still not there yet. Last April I ordered a new 2001 996, but when it arrived I simply could not bring myself to accept it (for all the reasons each of us views the 993 as superior to the 996). The 993 is what I want. This past year I have flown across the country to look at various cars, but only to be disappointed in how the cars had been misrepresented on the telephone. I have advertised everywhere it seems, blast-faxed every Porsche dealer in the U.S. on several occasions, poured over websites, and been put on various dealer's/broker's search lists. Again, I'm coming up dry.

At this point I would like to place on the table an open offer for everyone. (I hope this is not looked upon as a very stupid idea.) I will pay $500 (cash) to the person who locates for me the 993 that I am looking for AND will end up purchasing. (In other words, the $500 is paid only if it leads to my purchasing the car.)

Here is the 993 that I am looking for: It MUST BE a 1996 or 1997 model year; C2 Coupe (no C2S); Guards Red exterior, Black interior, 6-speed, <15,000 miles; all original; no Aero kit; no previous damage; no previous paint work; very, very clean; and ideally concours or near concours condition. I cannot emphasize enough that these are non-negotiable parameters. So as not to waste your time or mine, please know that I will not consider a car unless it meets these parameters.

I sincerely hope that someone out there will be able to help me. To contact me, please use my e-mail address which is swiss.alps@worldnet.att.net

Thanks, everyone, for hearing my plea!

Not that it is any of my business, but I am curious why you prefer a non-S car? Not looking to start a flame, just it is unusual.

A valid question, for sure. I just like the looks of the non-Turbo body better. I think the C2 looks more balanced. The rear of the C2S/C4S is just a little too wide for me.

Not so unusual, there are many, like me, who prefer the narrow body look.

Michael,

It took me almost a year to find my 993, with lots of wild goose chases along the way, so I can sympathize with you. I'll keep my eyes open for a car that matches your needs (no finder's fee accepted ).

Ironically, I drive a 993TT but also find the narrow-bodied, non-whale-tailed 911s particularly beautiful and balanced.

Best of luck!

Most of the Red 993s that I have seen were C4s and with Biege interior. I think it's rare to see a 993 C2 in Red.

You guys are great!

Within minutes of posting my "Help Me" plea, Silver Bullet e-mailed me about 2 different 993s available. And with one of them, I am sure I have struck pay dirt! Finally! Matter of fact, I have mailed off a deposit to the seller and will be having a PPI and body shop inspection done in the next few days and then fly across country to see it myself afterward. (It's a 1996 with 6500 miles.) So, I'll definitely keep everyone posted.

Man, this is exciting!

And I can't sign off without mentioning that Silver Bullet (like Anir) won't take the finder's fee. As I said you guys are great!

Hey, here's a thought for you: you could get a Rennlist membership instead! One year, lifetime, whatever you feel comfortable with.

I'd love to see the Speed Yellow/Black info that you found - that is what I am looking for...
