I think you would have to increase the clock frequency, so it looks like the incoming speed pulses from the DME are relatively (to the clock frequency) slower. It wouldn't have to be by much, even 30-40% would be helpful.

Problem is, in addition to Bill 993's concerns, the microprocessor might not be up to overclocking.

If we can't easily or cheaply change the speed at which the spoiler deploys, can we instead make an override switch to just shut the damn thing off until we want it?

Paul, that's definitely possible. I haven't done this myself so I don't have the exact detail wiring connections, but here are some information that may be helpful.

From the spoiler controller module plug :

Pin 4 (yellow/green) and 3 (black/green) is the power for the electric motor that raises and lowers the tail. So a switch there to interrupt the power to anyone of these two wire will do to disable the tail from raising.

Pin 9 (Brown/green) wire is the data wire to tell the control module that the tail is fully raised. From looking at the schematics it looks like when the tail is fully raised Pin 4 is shoted to (ground), you will need to confirm this yourself with a voltmeter.

So in order for both function to happen at the same time when you want to disable the tail you will need to find a switch that have 2 pair of leads one set of leads for the pin 4 motor contacts and the other set to ground pin 9.

I am not an electrician so I am a bit confused. Can't I just cut off the power to the motor and then switch it back on when I want the sytem to operate normally?

Paul,

You can certainly do that, but after some time interval when the spoiler controller module does not sense a short signal from the micro switch which sense that the spoiler is fully extended you will get a warning light. I think the time interval is set at around 10 seconds.

If you want to stick it up or down, it is easier to simply unplug the module ! No warning lights anymore...

But ditto ont he European module question... Hmmm...

I appreciate the fast reply. I can live with the warning light. It will be a reminder that I have the spoiler switched off. I will try this and see how it works.

I would like to use the blank hole in the center console for the switch. Does anyone know of an on-off type switch that will fit in the stock hole? If so, part #?

Under the dash, about under the glove box, a bit to the left. it's a grey module, one screw holding it in place, and one big connector going to it.
