Default Restoring Color to Cab Top

I have a black top and I've seen threads in the past on protecting/treating the cab top. The top looks good, but I'd like to get it back to a "brand new" look if possible.

Does this treatment process also restore a "deeper" black color to the top?

The only thing I have heard of is shampoo and waterproofing...if you find a color restorer, though...I'm interested too.

Is this what you're looking for:

http://www.carcareonline.com/detail....oduct_id=10311

I just order the proofer (protectant). I like the idea of using the brush. (thanks to Stevarino for the tip).

Thanks hn,

From the description, that is what I'm look for (a "reviver"). I'd like to know if anyone on this board has experience with this or other like products.

hn -

Thanks, this is good to know.

I have used the Ragg Top products (cleaner and protectant) and really like the job it does.

I don't think it renews color like this product though.

Thumbs up ragg topp....

ragg topp worked for my black top. conditioned & darkened some lighter areas, but i guess it depends how much you've faded. re: the stuff "hn" mentioned.... has anyone tried it???? it would be a disaster if it left streaks if not applied perfectly. how easy is this stuff to work with?

i'll wait for some else to guinea-pig up first.

let me know how it goes?

My top is in good shape but I will definately make note of Renovo Soft Top Reviver.

I too am interested to know if others have used and like it.

JPS - the site shows the same product in dark blue. Use the search function on "convertible" and find all realted products. I have no experience with the product, I need Grey for my top.

Hey guys:

I've used renovo Ultra Proofer once on the recommendation of the folks at carcareonline. They recommend the Porsche product or Renovo. They don't recommend or advise against ragg topp, but because it's water soluble, it doesn't last nearly as long, especially if the top is washed with any frequency. 'Simple physics.

I masked certain areas and had a wet towel handy just in case I drew outside of the lines. The top will absorb the product, and even though I'm certain I overapplied in certain areas, it darkened my top evenly but ever so slightly. After six months of regular washing, water still beads instead of being absorbed into the top.

I would give carcareonline a call if you need coloring products.

I have had my Cab top re-dyed in the past. Talk to your local car detailers, they usually do it or know someone who does. Makes the top come back looking brand new. My 13 year 964 top looks factory new, except for the small tear at the fold point.

Steverino, not sure what you mean by water soluble. May be confusing the two step Ragg Topp process. The cleaner is water soluble but the protectorant is not, as water, oil, stains are completely repelled. I applied 3 coats of the aerosol protectorant and still get beading of water 6 months later. I only clean top with water and a lint brush, but would use a wash like Mequiars Gold Class only if top became excessively dirty. I like the product mainly because masking is not necessary and the layers dry fast when applied in the sun. The cleaner may not be anything special but having a black top I wouldn't know the difference.
