Seriously? OP, please do not follow this advice. Save your shoe polish for your shoes. There are products (Color Plus, for example) that are made for automotive applications, and provide a near perfect match to the original leather.

The shifter's condition (and boot) seem very much inconsistent with a low mileage car. For reference, I have a 96K car with a blue interior and have nowhere near the wear, and no cracking whatsoever. You do not mention the steering wheel.

Nile, the car is a coupe, not a convertible and it is left hand drive located in Florida. The thin black thing in the first picture is the rubber door seal.

The steering wheel looks clean, but it is not original. Apparently, there was a problem with an airbag sensor malfunction and the wheel was replaced some time ago.

Just to add another data point to make it more confusing but my 95' with 55k shows similar wear. I'll probably use color plus when I get around to it.

Thanks Miclin, I do believe the mileage is correct on this car at 40K. I know the independent mechanic who has service the vehicle for the last 15 years and he says it is all original and has never really had any issues other than the airbag/steering wheel replacement.

With the heat in Florida and perhaps a person who might have sweaty palms, I can rationalize the wear on the shift ****. IMHO, the wear as pictured on the bolster and **** can easily be rectified by Leatherique color-matched dye. When applied according to directions, it's very durable.

So that;s why I do not understand the pic. I see side bolster wear and a door... it appears to be the passenger seat? Something's not oriented right. Also, I think I see a cab roof button on the center console. Could be sunroof, though.

In either event, I'm in Miami now and can look at the car if it's nearby.

It is the left seat in a left hand drive car aka a drivers seat! How can You not see that!? 😀

Maybe he's looking at it wrong? The left of the picture is the top, the wear is on the back, not the seat.

Oh, I don't know. I see red, which I assume is the exterior color of the door seal. I see a worn bolster, which is usually associated with outside, not inside bolster. I see something that doesn't look like center console to me.

And my 993 is 1,500 miles away, so I can't go look.

But as GAV just clarified, it's the seatback, while all along I was assuming it's a seat bottom without seeing that it actually narrows. Well, that explains this particular optical illusion
