Default Aftermarket keyless entry on 95 993

My 95 does not have keyless entry and I understand it wasnt offered until 96.

I'm looking for that upgrade-something to work in conjunction with the factory anti-theft system. Anyone have one installed with long term reliability ......or brands to avoid.

Thanks -CJ

When I bought my 95 Cab, I had the same question. I asked the local dealer, and they said it couldn't be done. I went to an alarm shop they recommended, and had an aftermarket one installed (Clifford). Ties into the factory alarm and provided keyless entry. No problems now for several years.

My 95 has it. I just assumed it was standard, but maybe not. Either way, it can definitely be done!

I also purchased without keyless entry and had a Viper system installed aftermarket. It works flawlessly but only after discussion between the install technician and a not-so-local dealer... integrating into the OEM alarm system was a bit on the tricky side I guess. All in all it may be one of the best things I have done... don't have to worry about the key hitting the paint around lock anymore or dancing in the rain.

Late-build '95s have the remote system. My 5/95-built car has it (and the '96+ style 3rd brake light).

If I were you I would install an alarm with a shock sensor and keyless entry. I had Circuit City install a Premier brand system with 2-way transmitter in my '86 for about $450 I think. Great overall (though the 2-way transmitter was mostly useless--the range was terrible--but gave some measure of comfort). They did a great job for me, but I don't know how they'd do hooking up to a factory system.

Bought my '95 in '00 and it already had a Clifford installed that has been trouble-free.

I recently purchased a '95 993 w/o keyless entry and the alarm shop was able to install it and have it activate the factory alarm. They said all it took was a few extra relays??
