Question Sports shocks -- color question

I have a MY 95 with factory sports package, can I assume it is the M030 option? I am planning to install a set of ROW M030 springs and I wanted to make sure I have the sports struts. According to the information from some previous threads the color of the shocks should be yellow in the fronts and red with green dot in the rears. But my front shocks are black and the rear are black with green dot??? Are there any differences in color from the Boge and the Monroe ones? Also what color are the M030 springs and where is the color dot located on the spring? Can somebody provide the part# for the ROW M030 front and rear springs.

Thanks in advance for any information!

If I were you, I would replace the shocks also. If they are original, they are likely shot. For more info on 993 suspension, look here:

Viken,
The web page you are referring to is where I've gotten the info and idea to install the ROW springs. Thank you for the suggestion about replacing the shocks......but, if the shocks behaves normal with 60K miles, is it a "my as well" thing to do while I am at it replacing the springs? How many miles with normal driving condition can original shocks last normally? Are there any difference between the ROW M030 and US M030 shocks? Also what is the dif between M030 and M032 springs? At last, I am still very curious to what kind of shocks is on the car now.

By the way I'd like to take this opportunity to say "THANK YOU" to this board for the WEALTH of priceless information, sharing experience and support. I have been a p-cars(s) owner for the past 22 years with 500,000+ (both on & off track) MOST EXCITING miles behind me and currently in HONEYMOON (6 months) with the '95. The only regret I have is I wished I have found RENNLIST much sooner! Cheers!

If you have 60k miles on the original shocks, there is no way that they are acting normal. Stock shocks start going south at or around 20k miles and get really bad at 30k. Since you are planning on dismantling your suspension, this is a good time to change the shocks too.

The US front M030 shocks are identical to the ROW's. The rears are the same too except for a slightly taller shaft on the US version. You can use the ROW M030 springs with the US M030 shocks but if you decide to replace the shocks, you might as well get the ROW M030 rears.

M032 is not lowered standard (not sport) suspension. Assuming no one replaced your shocks, you either have standard or M030. You say you have the factory sport package which is M030. If you are certain of this, you must have the M030 shocks.

Hi Viken,
If you were to replace your standard shocks, what would you replace them with, Standard ones or are there better altenatives that slot in? I am not asking about supension components , but just the shocks. For example are there any Bilstein shocks that could be used? I ask as I agree that my shocks are shot, they are on my to list and I would like to know what to ask for.
Thanks
Tito

I have the factory ROW M030 setup now which is in desperate need of new shocks. I have ordered the Bilstein HD replacement shocks mainly because I know they will last longer. But, they most likely will have better shock valving which has been my experience with Bilstein shocks in the past. Now, if only I could get my hands on these...

Viken,

from where are you getting them & how much they cost? When I lower my car, I was thinkig putting new shocks as well.

Also, I was thinking of changing all the bushings to harder ones, is that worth of doing?

Viken,
Can you tell me approx. how much does it cost both in parts and labor for the ROW M030 springs and shocks. I am also thinking maybe considering going with the PSS-9 if the cost difference isn't great. My car's current usage is mostly a daily driver and occasional(that might change in time)track use. I would like to hear some feed back on how the car handles ON THE STREETS using the ROW M030 comparing to the PSS-9. I would assume the PSS-9 is much more desirable on the track.

Thanks!

If there was the slightest chance I might track my car, and if the PSS-9 gave a significantly better street ride as well, I would get the PSS-9. For my street use only, I can't see the benefit of all that 9 way adjustability, so I am getting a quote on ROW M030 with the new Bilstein HD that Viken mentions. Checking Gert's pricing at http://64.35.111.106/ it seems the step up from standard ROW M030 to PSS-9 is about $1K.

Prices vary widely depending on where you buy the parts and who does the install. Check here Robin's Suspension FAQ for some approximations.
