Echoing Ron's suggestion, Leatherique is THE stuff !!! It's a two-step process: cleaner then conditioner. NO oily residue, NO smell (just a faint whiff of "fresh" leather, if that makes any sense), easy to do, and the surface feels naturally soft afterward. I've tried many over the years, I'm sticking to this stuff...it's that good! (no affiliation, yada yada)

BTW, I'd remove the seats and make sure the smell is not coming from anywhere else. How long have you owned the car? The carpets and/or under matting is also a likely candidate for retaining foul odors (an old spill, perhaps?). I'd try some Fabreeze there with the seats out and see what happens. Good luck

I have never heard of this fabreeze product! What is it supposed to do?
I've had the car for 7 months now.. and it still pukes as when new.

I will try to throw in some carpet freshner powder and then vacuum to see if this helps.

Febreeze is an aerosol odor absorber/neutralizer. All the rage int he states. I love it for home, but it did zippo, zilch, nada for my car smell ! Even a professional strenght odor absorber did not do it (ozium or something). In the end - if pizza ain't working for you, leave the windows down as much as you can to evacuate the smell from the leather.

Febreze is a fabric spray that removes odor from carpet, etc...If it's not available in Lebanon, you may be able to buy it over the internet. I haven't used it, but friends swear by it.

 

A funny story... Just remembered it when Greg was suggesting to keep the windows open..

I actually did that ,and the second day while opening the door to take out the car , A crazy cat started bouncing inside the car and jumping from the dashboard to the rear seats.... . It seems she had taken home for the night on the warm carpets inside.... My wife had left the door open when she took out her car.

 

Just got a bottle of Febreze...Can I use it directly on the leather & on the dash.....color is classic grey?

My 97TT smells just like my 70 914 did years ago!

 

i dont think it is for use on leather or dash. carpets only , to be safe.

 

I too also just leave the windows opened when the car is parked at night. I don't mind the smell too much. However, it does bother me at times. By leaving both windows rolled down it hasn't been much of an issue anymore.

kidding aside, if the leather smell is a bit too much crack a window when parked & air it out!

sometimes a used car sales trick is to use a leather fragrance to add that factory-fresh "cow" smell. i'd just clean the leather w/ the "lexol" cleaner & let the surfaces dry & then see how that smells.... & if the odor has lifted.... maybe treat very lightly w/ the conditioner (be careful though the conditioner does smell like leather).

ps-- you also may want to avoid parking in the direct sun with you windows closed, as this will just intensify the smell you already have living in your car. my 2¢.

btw: cat **** will kill any leather smell. actually any other smell know to mankind---beware! hee hee. don't leave you window open too long.
