More photos from my SAI cleanout job. This time, while de-gunking the engine, I noticed these small cracks in the case, radiating out from the various bolt holes.



I'm kinda of the opinion that there's no such thing as a "minor" crack in the case, but I'm hoping you'll chime in and say "yeah, they all look like that now. Nothing to worry about."

So...?

 

I'm no expert, but those look like casting marks to me. Way to regularly spaced to be cracks.

It seems to me they are located and in a direction where the case is not really subjected to forces that would cause a crack. I guess you could polish one and then probe it with a dentist's tool to verify they are not cracks.

I bet someone who has encountered these will chime in shortly.
