Absolutely, for maximum safety I would prefer have a fully plumbed system, a welded in cage and several other safety devices. As to the basement autoclave, it is next to the five axis milling machines, the FEA and CATIA software, the junior designers and the senior F1 engineer.

E.J.-- When is Viper Days @ VIR again? I am approaching July overload: Potomac has two good events in July-- 5-7 and 27-29 @ Summit Point. Do I *really* want to instruct some malt-liquor-sodden hillbilly in a 650-h.p. Viper Venom on his first day at the track? (Ah-- just kidding there Jethro, no offense meant...)

Yeah, If I'm at the ViperFest, I could certainly bring the B-K mount and the extinguisher, no problem.

BTW, I should finally be ready to roll in 3 weeks or so. My car is currently getting a shave and a haircut as I try to trim the beast down to spec RS Clubsport weight. I figure if I lose an inch off my pot-belly, driver and car should top the scales at a shade under 2,800-lbs.

Lee,

If you listen to any advice, listen to this: forget Potomac and instruct with Viperdays. It is limited to a few cars at VIR full course. It is run with groups, but it is more track time than any event I have been too. 3 days at VIR and you will be done. It is awesome.

July 18-20. You better decide fast, expecially if you want to instruct.

The BK mount is really nice, but as previously mentioned does limit forward seat travel. I also purchased the additional part to extend the travel further (another inch or two), but I found that travel was still limited for my use.

I beleive I remember that you occationally put the kids in the back seat (child seats). I too put my kids in the car and the BK mount limited the front seat travel too much and I could not have both the kids in back and the BK mount in front.

I opt to either have the kids in or the extinguisher mount. Note that I found it a royal PITA to install if you are using a 6-point harness and the same mounting points <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />
If you are not using the 6 point, then it is really easy to just pop in for track days. <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />

Something I just thought of. Why are you worried about seat travel if you are going to have a roll bar installed? Just curious.

Greg and David,

I don't really take the kids much in the rear seats of the 993 since getting the M3, so the travel is not that important for me. You are indeed correct about the impending installation of the DAS bar making the rear seat a null issue anyway.

However, I will be installing 6-point Teamtech harnesses as soon as the GT3 seats arrive, so David's point is well-taken.

I certainly want to attend the VIR ViperDays event, but to date, haven't had much luck getting information from Tammy. Is an application available online?

July is indeed a busy month - I believe Greg and I are contemplating a DE event every weekend of the month (wife won't mind, will she? ).

The WheelSource school is out for me. My parents got a house in Hilton Head for the week so I guess I have to go do the family thing. Hmm...wonder if anything is going on at Roebling that week.

I got the BK mount and red Halon fire extinguisher from OG Racing. My experience is different from some others here.

My sport seat is electric lift and manual fore/aft. The fore/aft adjust lever extends in front of the seat leaving no space for movement.
With the BK mount, my seat is one position only: ALL THE WAY BACK! This is not a problem because I have a harness bar which prevents use of the back seat only.

I will not take the BK mount out unless for good. I would not take it out after each track event because it took me about an hour to install it. One (or both?) of the nuts in the rails kept moving out of sight each time I tried to install the bolts holding the BK mount to the seat rails. I had to loosen the back bolts and lift the seat to relocate the nut several times. What is odd is I did not have as much difficulty when using the same nuts on the drivers side for the sub straps.

I was hesitant to spend so much for the OG Halon fire extinguisher. However, after getting it (the red one) I was satisfied. It is very pretty and the metal mount is very sturdy.

George is exactly correct about the bottom bracket moving on the front nuts for the BK mount. That is exactly why I had difficulty mounting the BK bar (one hole), the anti sub belt bracket (another hole), the seat rail (hole #3) and finally the constantly moving bottom bracket that the nut was to screw into. Getting all four to line up was the PITA that I was talking about <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />

Just mounting the bracket itself was not too difficult.
