Default 993 toolkit

Been doing some research to properly fill my toolkit. Unfortunately, seems that Porsche wasn't so certain during the numerous years leading up the last 993 model year based on the inconsistent make-up of toolkits floating around the 993 world

Anyway, as I put a "proper" toolkit together for myself, and for those lacking search skills, here is a screenshot of the PET with part numbers.

Maybe a better picture of tools outside;

There were 2 kits when the 993 came out, a nice quality one for the first 3 years or so then the cheap Boxster type one for the last year or so

Starting with the late MY97 builds got the minimalistic version and most notably without the spark plug removal/insertion tool and plier/cutters.

Thats an original early one. The latest versions as per Gert and my photos are quite a bit different as you can see!

In taking inventory of my toolkit, I'm missing the spark plug wrench, the 12-point wrench, and the right angle screwdriver.

Are these items critical to ownership? Is OEM spark plug wrench preferred over the Gearwrench 80546 mentioned in other posts?

Early kits didnt have the 12 point wrench in, crazy really. I would get one for fan belt install. Spark plug is more service item really

I too got curious and pulled my kit out. It's from my '97 that had only 15k miles on it when I found it last year. The build date is 7/96.

I have a 993 toolkit I'm selling. It's listed on the parts marketplace here on RL. PM me if you need one.

Ed- I looked at your kit and it's a "later" style like mine shown above from my '97. However your jack is different, although mine has the same soft bag. As mentioned earlier, there's quite a bit of variation...

Where's the Klein pliers?
Re: AAA and cell phone. On the northwest 2015 993 drive there were 2- breakdowns where there was no phone reception. One was an easy DME relay, the other required a flatbed tow. If no others had been around, would have been miserable.

For anyone looking to restock their toolkit, Pelican has the triple square right angle wrench. Part number 999-571-052-02-OEM.

I also found Klein right angle screw driver in Amazon. While there, I also sprung for a 24mm wrench and an inexpensive small socket set to add to the kit. Image attached for interested parties.
