Torn CV Boot Replacement
As for $500 per axle, add freight to NZ!

I read on the Pelican CV article one owner just popped into a truck shop and asked them to torque the axle nut. An option if you don't have the BFTW. My new 500NM torque wrench can be used for several jobs including simply tightening the wheel nuts 130NM. Compliments my other torque wrench that only goes to 100NM. (or the one for my bikes, only 20NM).

Oh man, you had to bring that up... Ask for a little help around here and you never live it down
I hear you on the torque wrench. I did some research before deciding on the method for tightening the axle nut and it seemed to me like a reasonable approach. You do the math, step carefully on the marked location of the breaker bar and voila you have your torque setting.
Are you saying I should not do that? Its not too late, I've not tightened the bolt yet.
BTW - axles are less than $500/side at Pelican.

Im sorry...I should not have brought that up, but it seems the lessons learned, may already be fading...
At this point, all Im saying is you do as you see fit...There are a great many opinions on RL, so be careful of those you chose to follow.
Mike J is a professional and this fact is obvious in his replies and posts. I only wish he were in Socal, as I would have no problem trusting my car to his services in doing things correctly and in a professional manner.
My best...
Yes, I was averaging. After shipping and tax, what kind of change does one expect to see out of a $500 bill?

Sorry if I led you to believe I was offended. I'm extremely grateful for all the help and advice you've given me and you'd have to do a lot more than this to upset me.
Thanks again - I'll be sure to torque this nut up perfectly, with you in mind
. I'm going to stick the broken bolt on my desk as a reminder of my fallibility.Cheers!
