You're right, just checked the inside and I did see more wear.

Thx

Hi Viken

1) My fronts have more wear on inside.
2) PO said car was set up for oversteer.

Are 1) and 2) related?

Thanks!

Very likely. More negative camber in front will reduce understeer at higher cornering speeds. You may have too much of it for your driving style. If you are not aggressive enough during cornering and drive your car mostly straight, you'll get some wear on the inside.

It's been a while on this thread but my trusty C4S is eating the rear tires lately, had an alignment a few months ago and now both of my rears have the middle almost bold, and I had 42 on them so I'm taking it to 38 & see what happens I do have a PSS9 not sure if that affects????

...meh...only 14 years... Was good to see Viken's messages again. I also have PSS9 on my 18" wheels and I run 42 rear and 36 front. While my tire wear is good...the ride is pretty harsh, and I feel like I lose grip a bit easier when I push it hard. Maybe that's because of the contact patch thing someone mentioned earlier in this message? But I don't really mind as I just drive on weekends on smooth country roads, and I don't push it hard very often.

If the middle is bold, you have too much pressure, obviously.

Tire tech made some serious leaps in the, what, 14 years now, that passed since this thread was started. And 20+ years since the cars were made. So, lower the pressure 38 might or might not be low enough, generally it should be OK.

Blown shocks might have an effect as well, if the car bounces, instead of keeping the tires attached to the road. Have someone who understands suspension drive it. Also, note whether the car kind of steps sideways as you hit any sort of bumps at any speed above 30-40 mph, especially in turns. If it does, rear shocks are gone.

I've done extensive experimentation and when I'm on spirited drives, in which I'll be generating a bit of heat in the tires, I run 29/30 cold which works out to about 35/37 hot. When its colder out and I'm driving more sedately, I bump it up a couple PSI cold to 30/31 or 31/32. Any lower than this and the tires don't turn in as crisply, any higher and my rears start to get greasy from too much pressure.

This is with RE71r in the summer and Micheline PS A/S 3+ in the shoulder seasons. Wear is good and I don't see any evidence of sidewall rolling with these stiff side-wall tires.
