RS shifter benefit ?
I wonder what does That shifter provides compared to the usual one, outside of the look ?
I'm asking as my car gets it and I'm asking myself to come back to original.
Thank you for your feedbacks and comments !

While many owners like it, I had it in my 993, and it just wasn't for me. The throw is shorter, but the effort is a bit higher, and I prefer to shift slower, give the synchros time to do their job, rather than bang through the gears en route to a transmission rebuild. Just my two cents.
Edited: I was talking only about the RS shift lever here, without any of the other related parts being changed.

You need to clarify the question a bit. There are 4 parts that are commonly changed:
1. The leather shift boot with the RS version or the S version.
2. The shift lever is replaced with the rs shift lever. This shortens the shifter throw a little, perhaps 20%
3. The shift rod is replaced with the rs or golden rod shift rod. This eliminates a rubber part in the connecting rod between the shifter arm and the transmission.
4. The locating rod use to locate the shifter arm with the car body can be replaced with a heim joint version.
Of all of these, I have done only #2 on my car, and I can recommend it. IMHO, this is how the car should have come from the factory.
I will probably do 3 and 4 at some point as well.

Thanks for the replies.
BTW I don't know which one of the 4 have been done. I can only say the shift is in alloy with a small Porsche crest on it.
