Funny, I was going to ask the same Q about the tunnel ...I gasped when the shot went through the tunnel since your thread title was "drone" ...yikes, he's either a tremendous pilot or nuts! Glad it was done the old-school way

BTW, great scenery, to be sure. But seeing the tarmac and its serious age/wear reminds me why I've avoided driving through there for years now. Still, killer vid!

Yeah, you're obviously local here. The roads are not perfect, but that road in particular is actually pretty solid and, as you said, the scenery is crazy. You do have to be careful with small rocks that slide from the hillside, but otherwise, of all the roads I drive on up there, that one is pretty smooth. Maybe try it again at some point!

Great vid and car. Thanks for sharing. Question: I have noticed on drone shots similar to yours in the canyons it looks like you are driving 25 mph. It appears the playback was slowed? Is that the best way to get such great shots with a drone? Or were you driving spiritedly? Thanks....

Seeing some of these shots made me think of the aerials from Halcyon's wreck.

I share some of the same thoughts and questions. I imagine part of the challenege is that a common retail drone can't fly much faster than 20-30 miles per hour over the land? So, it would be easy for a spirited drive in Porsche to quickly outdrive the shot of a drone camera.

Thanks for that. Some of these higher end drones can reach $ 100K + each

I had a go piloting one of those things and I certainly can appreciate the skill required to come up with your video. Makes me think that Coastal California might be a nice adventure after what is becoming a long winter.....very nice!

Most $1000 - $2000 drones will fly 40 mph...so while the car could easily outrun the drone, I imagine the bigger challenge would be keeping the car "centered" in the frame as the car moves around curves, etc. The option of having one person flying the drone and another person operating the camera would be useful in these situations. Of course the best tool to overcome any of these issues is gonna be experience.

Nice video.
