Water gurgling noises after wash...
Hi Folks,
Washed the car recently, (not this weekend, but the last) and afterwards, during the drive, I can distinctly hear water gurgling (the sound of wind blowing over water) coming from front pass. corner of the windshield. (The shop that did the install was terrible, silicone everywhere!)
Anyone have this problem after a windshield replacement? The windshield is about a year old. I haven't driven the car a whole lot in the rain, but I do remember it gurgling the last time when I drove it in the rain as well...
Recently had my windshield replaced (about a year ago)..

Yes, I have this problem. In my case though, it was
not the windshield itself, but the exterior rubber gasket
that goes around the outside edge.
The plastic channel that the gasket fits into cracked
and expanded not giving the gasket good grip, so
it does not lay flat and water can get underneath.
How much water? Lift one of the lower corners and
I'll think you will be surprised.
Mine was pretty loose - the entire top section came undone
on the highway and scared the hell out of me as it flapped
on the roof.
There is an updated version of this part and it has a different
profile. I'm not at home so I don't have accesses to the
details.
Others have also suggested glueing the part in.
For the time being, I simply removed mine until I find a
solution.
Note that lubricating this part/area to get rid of windshield
creak can also decrease grip.

Thanks Tim. Sounds like I'll make a visit to the glass shop to have them fix the gasket or get a new one...
Sounds like that's the problem as there is one corner, the lower outside one where there is not enough gasket to cover the entire corner...

Did any water come through? What people often think is a water gurgling sound in the front passenger area is actually oil flowing through the oil cooler and lines that run on that side of the car.

Pretty sure it was water. Only was noticeable at speed and only after the car was wet (rain or wash)...
Oh well, wish it was just the oil in the lines, but unfortunately, looks like I'll have to take the car back...

Just be sure...have someone drive the car, and listen over there yourself...if only by the window, ok...take it in...but if sounds like an aquarium from the front, along the floor to the back, that is just the oil. I was about to embark on a Finding Nemo quest the first time I heard that.
