Hi Rhonda,
I bought the stage 4 kit for my '95 993. FVD claims 340hp, I got 300hp.
I have asked the guys in Germany to explain this graph to me. I still haven't received any answer on it. Maybe you can tell me how it is possible to make 340hp at 6000rpm with 355Nm???
355Nm @ 6,000rpm = 299hp. Which is exactly what I got.

I spoke with at length with the engineers and we looked over the data that you posted. Also, thank you very much for your detailed email. That is why Mr. Brombacher wanted to speak with you to find out the background on your car.
There is actually a very simple explanation. It seems as if you received a dyno sheet from a 1996+ Varioram with 285PS. You can clearly see it on the dyno sheet you added above. It says 285PS in the little blue box at the top, that is the stock (base) power from a Varioram car. That dyno sheet, judging by the logo was probably done around 2003 or 2004. We are very, very sorry that you received that dyno sheet, I am not sure how that happened. We completely understand why you were upset. The only thing that we can think of is that there was a cut and paste error in our data when you were given that data sheet / sold that kit. Again, we are very sorry for the confusion.
What I listed on this post is a 1996 Varioram at 340 Hp. You can see it when you scroll back up it states 1996+.
The Non Varioram, 1995 and earlier cars with our level 4 kit with the 3.8L P's and C's is listed at 315 Hp (320 PS). You can see how they are listed on our U.S. site here...
We are very glad that you are happy with with the quality of the kit. We try to source the very best components possible.
Again, Juha we are very sorry about the misinformation on the dyno sheet. That information was certainly not current and was given to you in error.

As far as the Varioram, Kim spent about $700 in dyno time trying one (not to mention the Varioram unit itself + labor to swap between the '95 intake)..............and the result was next to nothing.
I think I have the dyno sheet somewhere. The Cliff's Notes that on the spreadsheet handy said 317.5HP @ 6200/292 lb/ft @ 5600.

I appreciate the effort you put into trying to get this straight.
At the time I bought the kit, it was advertised as 340hp kit for the 1995 cars on your website. We even requested a better quality version of the dynoplot and received the one I posted yesterday. There was no doubt it was advertised for a 1995 car.
I looked at your website and now it has been corrected so that 1995 cars the kit produces 315hp, which considering the different power measurement standards and the margin of error, seems to be "in the ballpark". Good!
However, the big question still goes unanswered, and now we are talking about the 1996+ version (varioram intake);
HOW CAN YOU MAKE 340hp @ 6,000rpm WITH ONLY 355Nm??? (ref: your graph).
Can you please ask your engineers again as this seems to defy the laws of physics.

No worries at all. It is imperative to myself and our company that we give our clients accurate data. If anything, we have always been far more conservative with our claims than most. So when you mentioned this to me, I wanted to get to the bottom of it.
I went through each item in the kit and asked them if there is anything else that was not listed, etc. Dieter, our engine builder confirmed that the vast majority of engines that he builds use the RS varioram intake manifold. He says that what is listed on the site at 340 PS is with the RS manifold. So I have added that into the text so that it is transparent. I will also update the site to reflect 340 PS which is the equivalent to 335 Hp, not 340 that was listed.
The engineers are looking back through our dyno sheets to find a build with and without the RS varioram, once they email that to me I will post them.
Let me just go through each item so that we are all on the same page..
Our performance package includes:
FVD Software – FVD 993 618 10
100 Cell GT Sport Catalytics (Gillet Flange) – 210 111 993 12
BMC Sport Filter – 470 136 04
FVD Sport Camshafts – 100 105 249 & 100 105 250
Specs:
Cam Lift (Valve Lift) I/E (mm) – 13.2 mm
Duration°CRA Intake/Exhaust Peak Timing = 288°/280°/114°
Valve Timing CRA – IO-IC-EO-EC = 30°-78° , 74°-26°
Valve Lift at TDC I/E (mm) = 2,1mm/1,7mm mit 0 Spiel

As stated above, in order to get 340 PS / 335 Hp you must also add the RS Intake Manifold.

2. The dynoplot you showed earlier (same plot as I posted), consists of the 340ps (RS intake) engines power curve and a non-RS intake engines torque curve. Somehow these two are shown in the same graph, even though they are from two completely different engines.
The last dyno sheet you posted makes a hell of a lot more sense (the correlation between torque, rpms and power is there) =)

And here's a quick preview what this level 4 kit is capable if combined with ITB intake system and Motec.
This is on the same dyno and same car/engine that made 301hp with the Level 4 kit and stock 1995 non varioram intake.

Great thread, always learning something and Rhonda's responsiveness is a credit to FVD. While we're on the subject of correcting errors in the interest of accurate description my suggestion is that a revision of FVD USA site is in order.
Just a some of examples I have run across:
The center lock dummy in wheel accessories is advertised as made in Germany. I do not believe it is. I think it is Rennline unit made in Milton Vermont OEM to FVD
A number of the products you reference as add-ons are no longer available. For example the BBS or Speedline wheel.
There are dyno results missing, like for example, the exhaust system netting +25hp, +23 torque. Quite ambitious.

So in a nutshell, does the correction factor from the earlier and later SAE standard, account for the FVD claimed and realized power output as stated by Juha G?

non varioram engine : 315ps
varioram engine : 325ps
varioram engine with RS intake : 340ps
340ps equals 335hp
