Default Question for a Porsche Motohead.

I just traded from a 1996 993 to a 1997 C4s. When I used to turn the ignition off in the 1996, it turned off like every other car I've owned (a slight delay). In the new car, when the key hits the off position, it's off. I mean it's really off instantaniously!

Everything stops immediatley. No extra turn of the engine; nothing. It's like the engine freezes up, the second the key hits off. My question is (bare with me, i'm still trying to discover all of the modifications the previous owner made to the car), is there some type of engine modification that could have lead to this, or are all cars just different? I do know that the car has a full B&B exhaust (headers and H exch), the switched out and modified Autothority DME and the K&N cone filter. Can anyone explain?

Thanks ahead of time.

Perhaps it has a lighter flywheel.

That would be my guess too. Lower reciprocating mass = less inertia = quicker shut-down time.

Mine is the same. Take it as a sign of good compression. Have standard dual mass flywheel.

I agree with Kim. Your '97 is the *normal* one here. My ex-'96 and all other cars I drive, shut down immediately.

FWIW, my '95 (standard flywheel) shuts down almost immediately. But my '81 SC, which obviously doesn't have a dual-mass flywheel, shuts down even more quickly.
