Pearl RearVision Camera

This is a classic example of a solution looking for a problem.
Ok, I can see maybe needing this in a cabriolet, but otherwise the rear visibility from a 993 so so good I can't see a reason for a rear view camera. In addition, if you turn your shoulders and head like you're supposed to when backing up, you have the added benefit of a wide field of peripheral vision. I doubt looking at an iphone screen offers anything like the same field of vision.
If I compare backing up in my 993 by looking over my shoulder vs. in my wife's Toyota with its built in camera (and much bigger screen than a phone), visibility in the Porsche is far superior.

Having curbed my front bumper twice in the last 2 years I have to admit you've got a point there.

Pearl backup camera
Here's a neat wireless backup camera that connects to your phone. Review below. OBD II required.

^^ Yes, some of us really do use our cars.
I would like a sensor that would let me know when cars are approaching from the sides when i am backing out of a parking space as the rear quarter view from the cab is non-existent with the top up. Is the camera angle wide enough?

It works well on my 991. My 993 is a '95 and I've been told by them the auto turn-off function will not work with an OBD I car.
Black Friday sale until November 29, $100 off.

I have a Verizon give-a-way android pad that I permanently mounted in her car for navigation. You could re-purpose a device for this purpose and not worry about having to remember to mount your phone.
I could have used this on Wednesday. I was at Costco and parked next to a couple SUVs. I was halfway out of my space and an Infiniti sedan drove behind me. I tooted my horn and pissed the guy off which led to a road rage incident. May be worth $399.

I think you will find it is. Here's a link that shows some detail on installation and testing.

Whoever mentioned that some of the late '95s had OBD II, thank you. Mine was made in June, '95 and I figured out it has an OBD II plug. I bought another camera and it works great.
