Comparison with 991

red toy car
Your red toy car picture does bring up an issue, a major one for me and I suspect for many others.
Driving cars like ours with these behemoth pickups and SUV's all around makes visibility and driving harder- for cars like ours, It's nigh impossible to see over or around them, particularly in lane changing and when negotiating around corners, or wherever.
I shared these subsequent remarks on another post a few months ago- I recently drove for several weeks in France in a rented Golf and in 2400 km saw 1-pickup and a few SUV's. Nearly all cars are smaller, visibility and driving are better, and they drive faster and better. Most trucks are also smaller.
I could always move...

When I parked there, I figured, "perfect, a no-ding zone between the behemoths"! I had to laugh (and grab the phone) as I walked away, grinning at its proportions!
But you've pointed out a trend, fsa, that used to be limited to American cars decades back, then everyone went "bigger." Corrolas today were Camry-sized years back, like Civics, et.al, and now even the latest Mini and VW-Bug have gone upsized. The 996 began this 911 march toward "big," and the 991 (even for those who like it), cannot ever be accused of being a "small" sportscar when "sportscars" were, by definition, small, light, and toss-able those decades back.
We've turned a corner to large, elecctro-nanny road appliances. We've exchanged driver interaction and skill-based pleasure on the road for ever-more detached "driving" so that hands-free devices and larger LCD screens have become the primary focus when navigating the tarmac. "Autonomous" was a word that once described one's self impetus; it now has morphed into the new breed of cars where the "driver" is now the lead passenger. Let's hear it for progress.
OK, so this has all strayed wildly OT from the OP. Forgive my mental meanderings as I simply started with a humorous pic. I suppose calling me a dinosaur really is appropriate since enjoying the likes of air-cooled, dino-oil-sucking, CO2-producing drivers' cars really is moving toward extinction. But I can still smile 'cause I've still got em. At least while the government still allows me to.
Happy Sunday morning, all

It's funny...I have the 991 parked in front of the 993 in my garage and it looks like the 991 gave birth to the 993
I think I have a pic...I'll look for it.
