What prices have you seen for 40-60K mile cars, I'm looking for the same car and milage. I have been speaking with Roy @ Motor Meister and he said buy a high milage 993 and let me do the motor for 7500.00. But, after talking with others and reading the wealth of information here on rennlist, that may not be the way to go, any thoughts from anybody.

There is a 95 C2 coupe on autotrader.com with 25k miles for 35,000 obo. Says must sell. If I didn't just buy, I would be checking it out myself.

I thought Motor meister was to be avoided... Could remember wrong. these days, what's the point of buying a high mileage 993 ? You can buy a decent 96 for low 30s under 60K miles... If you buy a car in good shape, no need to pay Roy anything for a long time !
>Now the question is a cab or coupe (already posted the question)?
I vote for coupé. The 993 lines are sooo pretty you want the roofline to compliment the ***... And it's easier to track the car without a roll bar. Less punks tempted to rip your top... If I wanted a cabrio these days, I'd get a used boxster. They are a dime a dozen dirt cheap!

Yep, I think Motor Meister has gotten about as much negative feedback as any vendor I can think of. In addition, if you read the fine print of their adds, they take a real low-budget approach to rebuilding engines. A lot of reusing of parts that other rebuilders would trash.

I have a C4S and an S2000 convertible. Though all my life I wanted (and now have) the cab, I bought a 911 coupe, not a softtop. It is truly lovely.
If you want a cab, get a cab. If you are not sure, get a coupe.
Put it to you this way - now that I have the 911, I don't drive the S2000, so I'm selling it. Go figure.

Thanks for the info. rennlist membership best $$ i have ever spent. After talking with my CUZ(69 912 Concours) who said the same thing do not buy a high milage 993 and have ir rebuilt. Saw a very nice 96 Cab with 19K on it for the low 40's item # 2443197396, anybody else see this good car, know anything about it? It's a tip, I really want a 6 speed. Is a car with 40-60K miles ok, I have read a very low mile car could have the same problems.

If you want a 6 speed I would not even look at a tip then. There are plenty of cars out there. On autotrader.com there are over 100 cars per 993 model year for sale nationwide. Really, there would be no need to comprimise on such a major point (tansmission). Color vs. mileage and price yes, but cab vs. coupe or tip vs. manual no. I just bought and for me, lower mileage and condition were my most important factors, for others it might be color or options. One lister estimated about 20 cents/mile when looking at price. I used this as a guide for comparing cars (assuming, of course, condition and records were equal).
