Talking Oil Cooler Fan Switch :)

Just an FYI for anyone interested:

I wired a switch to run the the oil cooler fan at high speed. It's a simple operation and doesn't interfere with any of the car's normal functions. All it does when you hit the switch is interrupt (via a relay) one of the leads to the oil cooler themostat(?).

The idea is really an extension of E.J.'s tip (outstanding tip, BTW!) to "pull the plug" and force high-speed fan operation for track days. So I figured, instead of constantly pulling the headlamp and yanking the plug, why not simply interrupt one of the leads which, in essence, is the same thing as disconnecting the entire plug. So not only can I flip the switch for the track, as a bonus I can hit it for those hot, stop-and-go traffic situations. Just thought I'd share

Hi Edward

Great tip! Can you detail the steps involved (I'm not very good with electrical workings).

Thanks

Edward ... nice job! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Jim ... check here for more details ... same set-up as Edward's--i.e., placing a switch in wire G12, between the CCU and oil cooler temperature sensor:
