Hey Bob,

For the most part you are going to have to deal with us old sods who own these air cooled ishtboxes who believe in the mantra "do it once and do it right"

just my $0.02

best,

Paul

I agree, especially after I think about it. Happy Holidays all and I better get back to the 991 Forum before people start wondering where I went (keep it to yourselves).

Yes, the stock ones come off easily. But bear in mind they’re painted on, they’re not decals. Simply remove the caliper and soak in aircraft paint remover. The “Porsche” comes right off with the rest of the paint.

And do see Andreas’ caliper rebuild thread. It’s inspiring.

Aircraft paint remover

Paint and “Porsche” removed

Yikes! Thanks but I will try decals first, and if not I will have a shop powdercoat them in Miami Blue, with Black letters of course.

I can't speak to 993 calipers but I recently did my 987.2 CS calipers.

I was just trying to freshen them up since they turned colors from heavy track use. Anyway, after stripping the first one down to bare metal and seeing the results of the caliper paint, I decided on the second one I'd just degrease and rough up the surface with a scotch pad.

The white P O R S C H E lettering came off pretty quick and easy. I don't think it is under the clearcoat.

So I think you could do a light scuff/sand to remove the white. Lay down your black decals and use caliper clear over them

Should look legit.

Of course personally i like the white letters

I have some extra Black PORSCHE letters on a Red background for those that want to cover up their White PORSCHE letters. Needless to say the Yellow PCCB calipers I have now use Black PORSCHE letters.
