Sean,
When I had to get a valve job, the mechanic checked my harness and really didn't see much to concern him. However, when he actually cut into the plastic tubing that surrounds the harness wires, the dreaded broken insulation and and major bare wireswere evident. Every other visible wire looked fine.
I say just go ahead and replace it(500 bucks).

Sean,

If you dont sell the car, then change the harness when the engine is out like Tom says, it is cheap insurance.
