I have the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3 on my C4 and like them. Tire Rack surveys show better dry results than DWS. (Although I used DWS on a Miata year-round DD for several years too.)

All-seasons are certainly worse than summer tires in the twisties, but are a good compromise for folks who will occasionally find themselves in cold temperatures, when summer tires can surprise you in a bad way.

I have the Conti DW on Cup IIs; likewise, 36psi. I liked them right off the bat when I put em on, wife and I took it on a 1000 mile trip and they were superb on fwy, highways, and mild twisty backroads: quiet, grippy, and comfy but not at all squishy or soft feeling (the latter is my complaint/disdain for the Hankook V12s). And with perhaps a bit over 2k miles on them now, I am confident they're the right choice for me, a DD in SoCal with occasional spirited romps

BC has much better roads than we have in the NE US so I'd start with the 36/38.

If tire pressure is too low, you'll get a lot more squirm.
Correct pressure is what one determines works best for them, based on tires and driving style. I would never run mine at 36/38 on my RE-11 Bstones.

Did you ge an alignment with the new tires. On my car it seems very finicky as even small changes seen to profoundly change feel in ways similar to what the OP describes.

Good question - no I believe I did not but that is an excellent idea.

Also, I did check and they are Conti Extreme Contact DWS all season tires and this may be part of the problem as well. I will not be driving this car past October or in any rain as I have other cars for that so my choice of tires I believe is wrong. I am going to look into what my options are. In the meantime I did also check the pressures, that we off a bit, and set the fronts to 36 and the rears to 38. We'll see how that goes.

Bear in mind a proper alignment on a 993 is not cheap or readily available in many areas. If you ask if they have the "kinematic toe adjustment tool" and they respond with "a WHAT tool?", I wouldn't consider taking the car there. In Vancouver, you are lucky to have a few choices but like I say....not cheap. I certainly don't get an alignment every tire change and it shouldn't be necessary to do so. Cheers

+993-if the car is setup correctly, an alignment with each addition of new rubber is not needed.
