Trickle Charger Help
New to this and my C4S ....will be storing my 96' C4S over the Winter. Any recommendations "best one" on what Trickle Charger to get and how to attach / set up. Do you take your battery out and hook it up or just attach in car and close Bonnet? I really appreciate the help. I saw the Porsche One but apparently we can't plug it into our Cig Outlet only 99' and newer.

CTEK
I'm pretty sure CTEK makes the Porsche unit, so Porsche can then double the price.
CTEK makes a number of units, all good, suggest checking reviews and recommendations both on Amazon and on the Internet.
I hard wired the included contacts to the car's battery- very easy.

I bought one through porsche for like $70 8 years ago. It just plugs into the cigarette lighter. I store my car from november to march-april and it has worked perfect. Always fires up first crank!

The one Porsche now sells says only "911 99' and newer" to be used in the cigarette lighter?

If you are not going to see the car for a few weeks or longer you might want to connect directly to the battery.
And as others have mentioned, CTEK makes the one for Porsche, which is a mid range CTEK model that you can get for much less on Amazon, etc.

My CTEK works great. There is a pigtail comes with charger that I permanently connected directly to the battery terminals that has a plug that mates with the charger cable. I leave the trunk cracked open with the lock mechanism tripped so lights stay off. Probably fine to close trunk, but I prefer not to.

I'm using one of these with the battery lead permanently attached. I then just attach the tender remotely when I plan to leave the car for an extended period.

I also have the Porsche version too but found the lighter connection a pain in the butt as it wasn't secure. Numerous times I thought the battery was fully charged only to discover it wasn't when the ignition was turned on. Gave up and just use the battery tender above.

For you that have a battery that's say, three years old. And tend to use a battery tender for extended periods of time. I would suggest that you also check the water level of the battery. There's several posting where a battery tender has been utilize for years with the water level depleted. Upon initial start up, the battery short circuit due to low water and explode....its not a good sight , especially since your dealing with the acid from the battery. I inquired why, the response was, since the car really never gets used. The sulfate settles at the bottom of the battery and creats a short- causing the battery to explode.

Most any trickle charger will work. Some come with battery clips. an adapter cord made from a cigarette lighter cord works well. Nice thing about using cigarette lighter cord on a charger external to the car is if the charger has a short or some other issue that can cause a fire it is not inside your car. Be sure to top off your battery with distilled water before storage.

ctek has big fan base here, ctek does oem manufacturing for many higher car brands chargers
optima, noco, battery tender, even the $25 black n deckers all do the job
in all cases if u get a new one, watch when first in use, make sure it is charging and then going to float mode once charged up... all have been known to fail on rare occasions
