Default front brake cooling

I installed an air dam that made my control arm scoops useless. after a few failed tests I installed 997 air deflectors.
part numbers are 99757523191 and 99757523291, a search will bring up some pics and prices. sunset had them for 20 bucks each.
my first install had them zip tied to the liner mounting flange, this didn't work because the deflector was angled down.
a flat simpson tie pushed the bottom back and up so the air flow is now centered on the rear of the caliper.
one of the fitment issues is a support bracket on the rear of the deflector is trying to occupy the same space as the brake line. I bent it around and zip tied it to various spots, it just needs a little support to keep the deflector from being pushed back by the air flow.

previous to the air dam with the control arm scoops functioning I had a 3 inch hose ending at the liner and dumping air on the control arm scoop, this current set up runs cooler.
in my case I have the brake ducts from hahn gfk juha sent me, they are a few inches short of the liner, all that gorilla tape in the pic connects the duct to the liner.
but for anyone wanting to try this you could either cut a hole in the plate behind the oil radiator and let air go to the deflector or run a hose straight back to the liner.
this 997 deflector is completely out of the way of any tire contact.
in it's current position it is behind and above the control arm scoop so no contact.

perhaps I'm missing something but it looks like that black thing is completely blocked by the wheel well.

there is a big hole straight back from where the fog light would be to the deflector.
this is what it looks like with the bumper cover off

my experience is if your front ride height is over 110mm the control arm scoops work very well. adding material is an ok idea, maybe just rivet some aluminum flashing to the bottom.
a better idea is enlarging the channel in figure 3 of the linked website. not much room due to the oil cooler, but making a larger faux naca duct is very effective.

I shoved my oil cooler as high as possible and zip tied the bottom of my bumper cover up into a concave shape. this was amazing in reducing brake temps.

I see. Good stuff, love the redneck engineering!
I'm working on different approach...less brake lol But I would like to add some cooling as well to preserve these expensive girodisks.

Just curious what made you add cooling (brakes fade or don't last) and what improvements have you noticed besides the temps.

brake temps were fine, but adding the air dam makes the scoops almost useless.
the 997 air deflectors replace a brake duct hose which we don't have space to install.
in the last pic you can see the 3 inch hose used to dump air onto the scoop. its fine on the track but getting around the paddock requires turning the wheel which shreds the hose up pretty quickly.
