Default will RUF G50 R50/50 6 speed fit 993 ?

Looking to convert my '96 993 tippy to manual. Happen to found myself a RUF G50 R50/50 gear box. Description says its base on a G50-50 type 5 Speed transaxle on a 1989 RUF Turbo model, updated with 6th gear.

Since this is a rather big investment to make on a manual box these days, I'd like to know if this will bolt right in my car and if this is a good upgrade for my '96 C2.

any help is appreciated! been looking through google searches but no luck.

Thank you!

Here is a link on what's involved in the switch.

You might need to post some more specs of the tranny to get responses on if its possible to swap, or if its an upgrade over a normal G50.

For example, since its a G50, the housing will likely bolt to the motor, but since it was a 5 speed, how do the dimensions stack up to a 6 speed G50. How did they add a 6th gear (Personally I have never heard of adding gears to existing trannies, interesting). Also, what are the gear ratios, to compare to standard G50.

I've managed to find an exact transmission just like this one in the link above. Ratio as follow:
1st-3.500 - 2nd-2.059
3rd-1.409 - 4th-1.074
5th-0.861 - 6th-0.718
Reverse-2.857 - Drive ratio-3.444

The transmission does look slightly smaller than the 6 Speed G50 found in later 993 models (correct me if I'm wrong).

at the bottom of the page I can see the list of cars that will fit however I'm a bit uncertain with the information on that site as it says 996/986 will fit ??

Also I believe the G50/50 was made for 1989 930 Turbo (5 speed) before RUF re-worked. Wonder if this is ideal for my '96 993 C2

Any info is appreciated
Thank you!!

If it is an exact copy of the tranny on Patrick Motorsports site, then I think youre a lot safer to assume it will work on your 993. Changing gear ratios to an ideal setup is at least partially subjective. There are lots of posts on here about regearing ratios and how owners liked different setups that you can search.

Have you tried calling Patrick Motorsports for some advice? They might like to talk to you in depth in hopes of selling you additional parts during the install.

I wouldn't trust the list of cars Patrick lists either... They list boxsters, 944, 968, 356. While if you have enough money and skill you can pretty much make anything work in anything, I dont think this is what you are trying to achieve here.

THe biggest challenge will be having a transmission mount made that will allow you to bolt it into the car, this will have to be custom made.

If it is possible to put a 993 G50 nose cone on this transmission then bolting is shouldn't be an issue.

From memory RUF put the 6th gear in the nose just like Porsche ended up doing when they went from the 5 speed to the 6 speed. Experts may have better information.
