Default Suggestions for low dust brake pad for street use?

I don't track my 993's... and getting little tired of cleaning the wheels so often... so I am wondering whether anyone here has tried and likes an aftermarket brake pad or two that is low/no dust... and if so, please advise on any sacrifices in braking performance (once again, for street use only).

Thanks in advance.

Check fitment for the 993, but I have had Akebono pads on the family Volvo and Suburban for a few years now ...great pads I will definitely buy again! Excellent braking, good feel (compared to the orig stock pads, of course), and what you are asking: very little dust so clean wheels really stay clean!

I'm running porterfield r4s on my 89. Low dust. Feels good.
Also have race technologies ts20 off or my RS and 964. Low dust ver good stopping.

+1 for akebonos, I just put them on my cayman. The initial bite is not as good as the OEM pad, but they still stop the car fine. Virtually no dust.

A good wheel wax will go a long way towards saving time when cleaning your wheels regardless of brake pad type.

I'm using Hawk Ceramic pads on my MINI Cooper GP, and I think they are great. Stops the car perfectly, and the wheels look clean after weeks of driving.

Who has used low dust pads on their 993?

Haven't there been some squeak/squeal problems with non Porsche pads on the 993? I've used low dust pads on lots of cars but not the 993 (yet).

Steve: I have ceramic pads on a 993 cab. No dust, but squeal at start-up in the morning. IIRC they are EBC. The squeal is a bit embarrassing but disappears after a few pumps.

I am going to be snarky here so be warned: not driving it is a good way to eliminate brake dust.

That said, the low brake dust trade off in my experience has meant more noise. I find it far more annoying than any dust.

I too feel the same way. I dig the OEM. I have no idea how they deal with track use though. I am guessing not well.

+1

Especially compared to some of the newer BMWs and MBs.

Not sure about MB but newer BMWs and Audis have hardly any dust at all.
