Default Mechanic in northern VA

A quick question as a new 95 993 owner- any suggestions for a mechanic in the Northern VA/McLean area? Right now the list includes HBL and Autothority. All thoughts, preferences, and experiences welcome!

Thanks.

Don't even think of EVER going to HBL!!!! They are 110% incompetent, if not crooked, can't be bothered by the air-cooled crowd and might not even recognize your car as a Porsche. Intersport is right across the street and they're a real Porsche shop, though they're always busy and ain't cheap. Depending on where you live, there are a lot of options. My favorites are Dulles Int'l. Motorsport in Herndon and RPM in Newington. There are a lot of good shops here.

Also Chris and Ivan at IMA in Fairfax: 703-849-9590. They're PCA Potomac sponsors, do track prep for local members.

Like others have said - steer as far away from HBL as possible. I get the shivers just driving past it every once in a while...

I have been with ASG (Autosport Systems Group) for a while and know the guys well. I would recommend them to anyone! Give them a call at 703.876.2811 and talk with Ed Schwarz (office manager). Tell him that Skip sent you...

Funny you should ask about a shop as I just swung yesterday to say Hi and talk a little about the upcoming PSS9 install. They are located right near the Dun Loring metro station near Gallows/29 intersection.

Isn't his name "Jeff" Schwartz? If you're in that area, I would highly recommend ASG. They're a good shop - also very busy and booked well in advance.

Geoff and Ed are brothers.

Geoff Schwarz and Ray Plewski own the shop and are the avid PCar racers. They are at all the events. Ed is the office manager, but doesn't really get into the PCar craze like his brother.

Taylor is the mechanic that has always worked on my car and he is great. I've never had to return for any job so far and everything is always done right.

Rick, Pete, Skip, thank you all for the replies! I called and talked to Ed today at ASG (mentioned rennlist and Skip) and will be taking my car in there.
