Post Does 97 C2S come standard with...

I'm looking at a 97 C2S at autotrader. As I'm sure everyone knows, when you bring up the car for examination you get some additional tabs at the top of the page. One of the tabs is the model info. By default the model shown is the C4S which under options has ABS and LSD as standard. Are those two options standard for a C2S as well? Or is that information just wrong?

I asked the dealer for option codes for the car I'm looking at and those two weren't in the list he gave me, which if they were standard they shouldn't be, at least I wouldn't think they should show up as an option.

Also, while I'm at it, in general is there a minimal list of options that a car should have on a NA 993. I'm asking 'cause this is my first 993 and not sure what is a realistic set of options to hunt for. FYI - I did a search and gave up after looking at around 200+ messages. Too much information...

Thanks - Scott

ABS is standard on a C2S, LSD is not.

I think a typical "low level" set of options would include 18" wheels, non-standard paint color (I think there were only about 4 choices for "standard colors"), moto-sound package, and sunroof.

Many 993's also have motorized seat adjustments, full leather, and tons of other stuff.

Hey Scott K: I am trying to learn about 993 C2S options also. What information did you get from the dealer to guide you?

PhoenixS4,
>>>What information did you get from the dealer to guide you?

When I started to talk to local dealers, I kept getting asked to make an appointment, so I gave up. Just starting to get info on my own over the internet and here at rennlist, so really don't have any insight at this point. If I find out anything unique to C2S's I'll pass it on.

I think you are confusing ABD (Automatic Brake Differential) with ABS (Anti-Block Brake System). ABS has been standard on most all cars for at least a decade and on the 911 since the 964 was introduced. As to the Carrera S, here are the options as it pertains to this:

- M224: ABD without LSD for Tiptronic
- P08: ABD with LSD for 6-speed. This could be listed as both M224 (ABD) and M220 (LSD)

I ordered one of these cars in 1997, I still have it. I also owned a '95 and '96. There really are no "common options". In '97 there was a list of options as long as your arm. I saw a '96 993 that listed for over 100,000.

Any amount of leather was an option. HiFi, litronic lights, 18' wheels, aero kits, sport seats, heated seats, full power seats, cloth seats, motor sound, M030 suspension, etc, etc,

black, red, white, blue were all standard colors.
There were about 6 standard interior colors and then you could mix and match. I ordered a classic grey interior with black carpet. You could also order a black wheel.

You could also have paint to match exterior and interior.

As you can see the possible combinations are endless.

Many of the non custom ordered cars in 1998 (as I recall from my search) seem to come with 18s, power seats, hi-fi, rear wiper, standard paint, CD changer and partial leather. Original sticker at about $71K

In general, sport seats, litronics and LS/ABD are harder to find, as are aluminum, aero kit, etc. Option prices were very steep!
