Default Driver side seat sliding forward

Just got my car back from a respray and want to start tearing into the to do list. Since I got it the drivers seat slides fore and aft about an inch when starting and stopping. The power controls work it just seems like there is play in the slider.

Basically every time I drive forward the seat slides back an inch and every time I stop the seat slides forward an inch.

I am sure it will be pretty clear once I take it apart, but if anyone has any info I would love some tips.

Check that the rail seat bolts have been tightened...

The mechanism ia very simple. Put a little penetrating oil on the rail hold down cap screws over night. Raise the seat to it's highest position. Use a nice fresh allen key or socket fully inserted and held square to the socket screw head and pop the screws loose. The screw heads are easily deformed if a worn tool is not seated squarely. I suspect the release lever mechanism is just a little out of alignment.

PLEASE stop driving the car until you've fixed this.

From near personal experience...my dad banged up one of my prior cars when something in the seat rail kept it from locking and he slid all the way back...and his legs were too short to hit the brake before the car hit a pole. Now, he didn't get any symptoms before hand, but I'd worry something like this could happen to you. Not worth the risk to you, others, or a 993!

The seat mounting isn't complex, so taking them apart isn't a big deal. Just a few bolts fore and aft. And a couple of wire connectors if you are pulling the seats out (they are heavy, btw...). Follow Andy's (pp000830) directions directly above on the socket. If you have the original gold-ish bolts, get some new, harder, black hex head fasteners (wth are they called?).
