Default questions on the 993 C4S

greetings from the 944 crowd,

found a C4S that's somewhat appealing and had a few questions on them. it's listed as a 1997, and i wasn't sure that 993's were being made as late as that.

besides that, just wondering what past and current owners have to offer on the car. the test drive was phenomenal, fabulous car, excellent feel, and incredible brakes. thanks

The US 993 model year spanned from '95 through '98.

Does the AWD have any maintenance/reliability issues that the C2 doesn't? I've always wondered about how much the cost of ownership of the C4's compares to RWD 911's.

protokultur,

There is nothing significant to worry about.

There is no difference in regular maintenance cost and if the viscous clutch goes the outcome is benign - you are left with rear wheel drive.

Kurt,

You got most of your answers, but I have had my 1997 C4S since 1999 and have had no problems with the AWD. Normal maintenance, just like the RWDs.

If you like it, get it, and enjoy it by driving it...
