I got in touch with Waldemar. I had not realized he is based in Germany (Frankfurt am Main) which is great for me as my 993 is in Europe. I am waiting for him to indicate if it is a good idea to re-upholster only the seat backs (with new sport hardbacks) as I fear there will be a slight color difference with the bottom seat part. My seats are in very good condition but still 19 years bring a bit of fading & patina. I might consider re-upholstering the entire seats? For those who have done it, what did you opt for?

I got a set of these 2 years ago.

Extract from my journal with comparison to comfort seats below

Nb I did have an issue with shipping (to UK from Germany) as one of the carbon hardbacks was cracked on delivery but to be fair to the supplier he arranged for a new seat to be delivered with no hassle or cost to me. I think I was one of his early buyers (he used to sell on German and UK eBay, the seats being pre made so delivery was quick) so hopefully he has sorted out his packaging better now.

My driver's seat has the lumbar support which I like, can they make that happen with these? Also, can you get them heated and since I don't have heat now, is there additional wiring that needs to be added to the car?

Thanks!

I have ordered a set with CF backs from him and they will be heated. He can even do 12-way controls.

Default OE HB seats partial electric adjust w/heat ... "Full electric mod?"

Back in the day the optional Racing Seat (hardback seats) were offered w/ or w/o heat and "partial electric" limited electric adjust. The seat base is electric height adjust; both the front and rear aspect of the seat base. Fore/aft adjust is manual as is the seat back's rake adjust - all manual.
Heat control is via an archaic out-of-sight thumb wheel high/low with an On/Off toggle "braille" switch arrangement located on the outside "side" of the seat base.

Fast forward 2016 -
I'd be over the moon to add Full electric seat adjust to the original OE hardbacks... Say its so ....
In 4 to 5 weeks I'll be in Frankfurt .... Looks like there's a side trip planned..

Could someone post an exploded view to the 993's electric seat apparatus? Possibly a ETKA page view?

Looking to visualize the motorized fore/aft spindle gismo and motor arrangement of production Full electric seat. The idea being is to enhance the OE partial electric HB w/heat seats ... TIA.

Gismo = is a technical term.
