purchase/value help, please?
He Told me that the front fenders where bad but then "someone dropped something on it at the shop, so they needed to do the front trunk too"
Run away, I did

did not know if my initial reply registered. Anyhow to address several questions/comments;
Len, carfax does not notify you of minor body repair, I found out during the PPI and the body shop and prior owner were very honest about the whole thing.
Boulder, Colorado has major wind and gravel kicks up like crazy. The front was chipped up pretty good so a respray was in order. Most Porsches need this around here after a couple of years on the road. My 928 GTS and 964 C2 Cab had it done twice.
Cafebisque is my restaurant and email address that I use.
Len, values are way down and winter is coming up, so good huntin'. You know, I was "lightly" looking and this deal just came up so I had to jump on it. But, there are others out there. Goes to show you that you can actually work with a dealer and still come out ahead.
Good luck,
Alex

My partner actually talked to him about it for a long time.....a lot of inconsistencies. I sold my c4s, clean title, a bunch of work done, great options and similiar mileage for not too much more than he is asking. Send me a PM and I might be able to help you in your quest...I have a lot of commections.

I see since last week he's changed the pic and raised the price back up from 36.685 to $37,500. Guess since he's sending it into the shop at Walters Porsche, he wants to add the cost of whatever service he does to the price. I also got several angles and answers that seemed fishy.
First of all, no mention of salvage title in the add. No mention to me after a week of various phone calls and emails, until I thought (duh, light bulb's a bit dim) to ask him flat out. He said he was only selling it because it was a 6 spd and his wife couldn't drive it, otherwise he'd keep it. Also said he was offered $42k a couple mos. ago and turned it down because he wanted $45k at the time. When I asked about the title a few days ago, he came back w , "yes it's salvage, and that he turned down $34,500 the day before. Doubtful. Then he said only work he did was changing front fenders because of some small dings, and he didn't want any Bondo on HIS car so he sprung for new fenders only. Then later someone on this board suggested I ask if the sticker is still on the front hood, w the options and such on it. When I asked, he then said, oh, I put on a new hood also while I was at it. His ad also states that the car was recently looked over by Porsche mechanic. When I asked who and if I could track down the records, he said he had looked and found he hadn't done the 60k service like he thought he had done. He's supposedly bringing it in tomorrow to get that done. When I asked about the extend of the original accident, he said was very minor and that he had the frame checked on a laser and it was better than factory standards. Initially also said he bought it from the previous owner, when it turns out he bought it from the insurance co. who totalled it. Supposedly had 60 k when he got it and he's put only 10k on in the last 4 years. I don't know what to believe w this guy, but I've decided to run, very fast!
Thanks for all the help and advice. This coulda been real ugly!!!
