headlight bulb question
has anyone had the chance to compare the cool blue bulbs with the silverstar bulbs? I'm looking to improve my headlights but really don't want to spend the money on lintronics right now (too many other mod's further up the to do list). So I'm going to at least change out the stock bulbs to one of these two. I'm not that eager to imitate the lintronics with the cool blue. I'm more interested in increasing the brightness and the "throw" of the bulbs.
Has anyone compared the two? Any input appreciated.

I just went from stocks to SilverStars last Sunday. It's a nice improvement, thought nothing huge. For the $68 (all 4 bulbs), I'd do it again. Hi beams are much better than before. Though I still swear by the H4's in my old Carrera.
Jim,
Rick is correct. Just install Sylvania Silverstar's or Phillips VisionPlus. These two are the best you can do without HID. All bulbs are H1, 55 watt.
I have HID in the low beam and just installed 100 watt (Catz) in the high beams as a comparison to the Phillips VisionPlus that I had. Maybe a 10% improvement - wasn't worth the $40, but had to give it a try.

I have seen independent group tests of H1 bulbs. The bad news is that the best performer of the group (Philips VisionPlus) was only about 10% brighter than the standard. The good news was that some of the bulbs from the big names were up to 15% BELOW the standard, and some failed the geometry tests too! So whether the upgrade is worthwhile depends very much on your existing bulbs.
By comparison, HID bulbs put out around 150% more light.
